You are a slave, but secretly, you have learned to read and write. When your master comes in you turn the paper upside down so he thinks you are only pretending to read. Who taught you to read and write? Was it someone in your slave quarters? Was it someone from the master's house? What will happen to you if the master finds out? Was it worth the risk to learn to read and write? Why or why not.
